Halge's week with Eilidh

On the 22nd of March 2008 Helge and I went to the festival of dance. This is a festival that celebrates Scottish Country Dancing and the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society which teaches people of all ages how to dance. Scottish Country dancing is one of my hobbies and I enjoy it very much. When we arrived there I had to put on a special costume which is a white skirt and a tartan top, unfortunately there wasn’t one small enough for Helga! Soon the festival began. There was wonderful music composed especially for Scottish country dancing and lots of fun. On most of the dances everybody danced at the same time but some of the dances were demonstration dances. Demonstration dances are when one group chooses a dance they have been learning at their lessons and performs it in the centre of the hall. It soon was time for my demonstration dance called Clutha. I had been practicing it a lot and was ready to perform it with the rest of my group. It went really well and I’m sure Helge enjoyed watching it. Soon it was time for Helge and I to go home.

The next day it was Easter! In Scotland we celebrate Easter by giving rolling chocolate eggs down a hill and then eating them. Today my mum, my dad, my brother Cameron, my granny, my grandad, Helge and I went to Falkland palace to roll our Easter eggs. It was great fun and Helge enjoyed it too!

The week when I got Halge we went mountain biking and rock climbing and we really enjoyed it. On Wednesday we canoed down the South Esk River and that was about five or six miles. On Thursday Halge and I did Mountain Boarding. By the end of the day Halge and I had a lot of cuts and bruises! On the last day of Ancrum we went with the older people and went to St. Andrews beach and went blow carting. It was really windy. On that same day we went to my friend Cameron’s party for a sleepover and it was great fun. On Sunday we started getting ready for school the next day. We were also getting prepared for going to Dalguise on the Friday 25th April. Halge REALLY enjoyed staying with me.

On Tuesday morning Ross and I experienced a car crash. Thankfully we were alright and managed to get to school on time. On Wednesday Ross passed a Karate grading aswell as Judo. He also made me play his guitar, which was quite hard due to it being 10 times my size. I even held a samurai sword. On Thursday Ross told me that he had a hard day but very soon we would be meeting Mark Beaumont [I want to meet Ted Bear.] On Friday ,after school, Ross saved me from Fergus [his dog.]

My week with Hilda and Natalie

Hello Dundee! Today we publish a text that almost has´nt been moderated so that you can see how a Swedish pupil writes. Now, Hilda is not the average student, she is really good at English/Mrs Ulvelid.

This week I have felt like a king, and now you will find out why…

In Monday we go home after school and it was nice weather! We decided to have a picnic. We going home to Natalie and find sum biscuits, cookies and lemonade, and they call it “saft”! We go home to Hilda, five houses away and take a basket and a blanket. Then we go up to a small mountain back Hilda’s house. We find a good place to have our picnic on!

Before... I want to eat all the good things!

After… Take me away!

After the evening we drink sum fruit drink.

On Tuesday morning we go to the school and it whas cold! So I borrow a cap.
In the school we have a usual day. We have Swedish and I learn to say “köttben” (meat bone) and “tankbil” (tank truck)! After school I go home to
Hilda’s mum and Natalie goes another way. So she doesn’t go with us. When
we were home Hilda does her homework and I look at TV. When Hilda was ready she looks at TV with me. We look at “The Simpson’s”! Then I went to bed.

On Wednesday it was cold! I go to the school and it reining! So I have my new cap and I be not whet! This was a really funny day! Because first we have English! At last I understand something! Then we have music, and I was with Hilda and play trumpet! It sounds funny! We have break and everything was usually. We eat steak, pasta and carrot sauce. On afternoon we have P.E. we have boxing.
Then Hilda, Natalie and I go home to Hilda and Hilda takes hers handball clothes on her. I and Natalie play with Hilda’s hand- and foot-balls.

On Thursday we go to the school as usual. We have math and break. Then we have English! I learn the kids ho to say Ester! They call it “påsk”!
We eat chicken soap and then we have afternoon break. Then we have history and we play a theatre about the Viking age… they was wery good! Then we go home to Natalie. I wanted to go out! But it was raining… I sit in Natalie’s window and dream about the sun was shining! But later I and Natalie go and put on taekwondo clothes and Natalie and I go to the club house.

On Friday we have music again! So I sit with Natalie and the other clarinets this time. Bus now everybody was in the same room! So I heard weary many instrument at the same time! Then we have Swedish and finished up things. We have craft. I was with Natalie and have hand craft and Hilda has wood craft. Natalie does a worm in fabric. Then I go home to Hilda but Natalie has Persian studies and Natalie came after. It was just one little secret… I have practiced to play the piano the whole week and now I shall play for all the cuddly toys and I take my hat and sun-glasses on me!

Then I sleep in Hilda’s house. Next day Hilda was sick…L I was home the hold looong weekend and take care of Hilda. But I was Hilda’s doctor and have a doctor-bag with many strange things.

Now you know why I felt like a king this week! Now I shall have a nice next week with Liv and Ida B!
Bye bye!

Hello everyone in Dundee!

I just want to tell you that Whisky has been very busy and that I have several students working on their texts. You know, it is hard and it takes time for the students to write in English since it is quite new to them.
Now, I want to tell you about a small incident the other day involving Whisky:
One of the girls in the other class 4 had had a terrible accident. She had fallen and hit her head in one of the stairs cases and she was bleeding a lot. Her father came to school and we were waitng for the ambulance to arrive. We were all (two teachers, one bleeding Ella and a father) jammed in to a small bathroom right inside the door to the teachers´lounge. I had taken care of Whisky during the break because Sarah, who was bringing Whisky on the holiday, was playing outside. Suddenly the door flung open and Sarah shouted in to the lounge: DO YOU HAVE WHISKY HERE? I shouted back: ON THE BENCH! You can imagine the look on dad´s face!! We all had a good laugh after a small explanation.
Hope everything is fine with you all! Mrs Ulvelid.

Alasdair's sporting week with Halge

On Saturday 26th January I got up at 5.30 am, put Helga in my bag and set off for the Scottish Schools Swimming Championship in Glasgow. I had a good day and you can see Helga in the photo beside the 10 lane, 50 metre pool at Tollcross, which will be used for the Commonwealth Games when they come to Glasgow. When we left the pool it was dark and it took us more than an hour to find our hotel in East Kilbride because we got lost. We had to stop and ask directions in a pub which went silent when we walked in…scary.

There is another photo of Helga in the hotel room. We had just enough time to go for a swim and sauna before we had our dinner.

The next day I took Helga to the west of Scotland table tennis championships where I was competing. Although I was very tired from the day before I played quite well and had a couple of good games before playing the 14 year old Irish champion. Helga enjoyed this game as it was quite close, although I lost narrowly in the end. It was great to watch so many good players and I think Helga enjoyed it too!

Whiskys week with Johanna and Sofia

On Monday I went home to Sofia. I didn´t do so much but i was bored so I fell a sleep in 2 sec . When I Was awake I was in Sofia´s school bag and I was in the school again, sad:'(
On Tuesday I went home to Johanna and played videogame. We played Guitar hero. I really liked to play and want to do it again! I liked Slow Ride the best.
Johannas favorite food is lasagna and I also enjoy it.
On Wednesday we whent to something they called "Ruddalen". It is ice! I did not skate because I did´nt want to have snow in my fur but it was fun to come home and rest after.
January has been extremely stormy and rainy in Sweden. On Thursday when we went home to Johanna we had to lean against the wind to come home. It is also very warm for the season. We found flowers that should not bloom until May. I was bored again so I fell a sleep when I came home.

On Friday Sofia went home to Johanna and played on the computer and danced but I was in my dreams and I was king of the world!!! When I woke up I was sad that the dream was not true :'(
